Based on the provided requirements, I was tasked with designing the user interface for a blood donor app consistent with iOS GUI guidelines. To ensure the functionality of the design, I created wireframes and tested them with users beforehand.
AI Tools were used to speed up the research and categorize data.
Business Requirements
The requirements focused on designing a distinctive interface compliant with iOS GUI, with visual elements that display the quantity of donations, their types and volumes, the total volume of all donations, and the next possible donation date. Additionally, features such as social sharing, blood type demand, and notifications about the donor's blood being used to treat someone were included to encourage regular donations from users and their friends.
Desk Research
Apart from researching the logistics and rules of blood donation, a competitor UX analysis was performed. This analysis helped identify competitors' characteristics and provided insights into UI design flaws that affect user experience, which further informed the wireframe design.
Paper Prototyping User Tests
Paper prototyping sketches were not only a quick but also a cost- and time-effective method to test the solution. The received feedback enabled rapid iterations until the final version was reached.
UI Design
The main focus during this stage of the designing process was to create a distinctive yet minimalistic interface, in compliance with iOS GUI.
UI Prototype
The interactive UI prototype illustrates the logistics behind the solution and includes a visual animation counting down to the next possible donation date, based on both the last and planned donation types.
